Highlights of the cruising area



The Moselle / Saar / Lahn cruising area offers major nautical advantages:

1. Thanks to the river regulation works on the Moselle, Saar and Lahn, there is no low water even in dry summers

2. The Moselle and the Saar are federal waterways.

The locks are maintained regularly by the Waterways and Shipping Authorities

and are practically in continuous 24/7 operation.

By the way, there's no need to be nervous about going through locks!

The large Moselle locks are very quiet.

During the briefing, you’ll receive valuable tips for getting through the locks smoothly.

Our "Silas" is so steady in the water that we can lock through using just one line from the midship cleat! How?

Many sights can be reached on one- or two-week cruises:

Moselle (1 or 2 weeks):

- Various tourist attractions and towns, such as Cochem, Bernkastel Kues, Zell, Trier...

- Vineyards, wine terraces, wineries, wine taverns, ….

- Trier, home of the world-famous Porta Nigra (we recommend the port of Konz, with a good train connection to Trier)

- Schengen, Metz (F), Nancy (F)

- Wasserbillig, with a direct train connection to Luxembourg City 

Saar:

- Saarburg

- Saar Loop near Mettlach (Villeroy&Boch)

- Saarlouis

- Völklingen Ironworks UNESCO World Heritage Site

- Saarbrücken

- Saar Canal with swimming lakes and Sarreguemines

Rhine (Sauerkraut Cruise: at least 3, leisurely 4 weeks):

- Saar with the Völklingen Ironworks World Heritage Site or Nancy

- Rhine-Marne Canal with the Arzviller boat lift

- Strasbourg

- Wiesbaden

- Bingen/Rüdesheim

- Koblenz
