For
a one-week tour,
a wonderfully relaxing trip along the idyllic Lahn is ideal.
There is no better way to slow down! The Lahn is still a real insider tip among charter holidaymakers! You cruise from Lahnstein to Limburg and back.
Alternatively,
explore the Lower Moselle with destinations such as Sennheim, Treis Karden, Cochem and Zell.
Alternatively,
the World Heritage Site "Middle Rhine Valley"
with the Loreley and Pfanlz Kaub is a fascinating option for a (short) week.
However, you should have some boating experience and definitely hold a VHF radio certificate (UBI).
In
2 weeks
you can explore the Lower Moselle after your trip on the Lahn.
Alternatively, spend two weeks on the Moselle and turn around again at Neumagen-Drohn or Konz.
There are plenty of harbours,
so you can always call at a different harbour or town on the outward and return journeys.
Special trips are, of course, the so-called Sauerkraut tours,
named after the region's fondness for sauerkraut...:
...The "small" loop from Lahnstein upstream on the Moselle, via Saarbrücken along the Saar Canal
into the Rhine-Marne Canal and then back downstream on the Moselle to Lahnstein.
You need approx. 4 weeks for this loop.
…The "large" loop from Lahnstein via Trier,
Saarbrücken (Saar & Saar Canal) or Nancy (Moselle & Rhine-Marne Canal) to Strasbourg and
then downstream on the Rhine, including through the breathtaking Middle Rhine Valley with the Loreley, back to Lahnstein
You should allow 3–4 weeks for this trip
and should already have sufficient boating experience, ideally including a UBI VHF certificate.
